Atmosphere
A bird and nature lover’s paradise, this two-level ranch style country home, with six guest rooms, offers splendid views of the San Juan Mountains with its ever-changing beauty and wildlife. A spacious redwood deck offers front row seats to a multitude of bird species – from summertime hummingbirds to year-round residents such as several varieties of woodpeckers, grosbeaks, jays, nuthatches and finches.

Amenities
With views of forested mountains and the sound of the nearby Animas River, our guest rooms are designed with your comfort in mind. There are several indoor common areas, including a comfortable seating area with leather couches in front of a large stone fireplace, plus a separate TV lounge. Among the many unique gathering areas, our property boasts an outdoor hot tub (available at all times throughout the year).
Also enjoy our spacious redwood deck with comfortable wooden tables and chairs, and stunning views of the San Juan Mountains. Everyone loves our multitudes of close-up birds – several types of woodpeckers, grosbeaks, hummers, orioles and tanagers to name just a few! Deer and elk, occasionally a bear or two might visit the lawns along with other wild life.
Food and Beverages
A Continental breakfast buffet is served each morning, with hard-boiled eggs, muffins, breakfast pastries, bagels, cream cheese, jelly and fresh fruit. Orange juice, water, coffee, and a variety of teas accompany breakfast.
Walter’s fresh-baked signature cookies are available all day, along with hot/cold water and a variety of hot teas.
You are welcome to bring takeout meals back to Country Sunshine as we provide guest access to a refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, utensils, paper plates, napkins and glasses in the common areas of the lodging.
